North-Western Province and Central Province are to be dissolved tonight; President declared NPC elections
The North-Western Province and Central Province will be dissolved from 12.00 midnight today. Governors of the two provinces, Tissa R. Balalle and Tikiri Kobbekaduwa said that a gazette notification to officially dissolve the Provincial Councils is to be issued today.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa also declared the elections for the Northen Province and informed Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya to make arrangements for the elections. The dates for the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) elections will be revealed soon.
